Priceless~

Caught this with Ashlyn, Weihao and Huishan on Wednesday. Gotta say this show's worth the full 7 bucks I paid for. It's sexy and funny without making it overboard. Audrey Tautou is at her best, playing Irene, a gold-digging hooker but the real star I felt was Gad Elmaleh as Jean, a lovestruck waiter who falls hopelessly in love with Irene.

Catch it before its run ends!

I also caught 28 weeks later too on Sunday with the boys. Din really enjoy the first show "28 Days Later" but the sequel is pretty decent. Us forces re occupy Britain after the deadly Rage virus is wiped out and refugees stay in containment areas and u guessed it... the virus breaks out and all hell turns loose. Kinda reminds me of what US is doing in Iraq right now. occupying it and making it a "safe" place for the Iraqis to live in... Not too bad though. The scary scenes are that scary so they're pretty safe for ppl who are generally afraid of horror movies. =)

My steals for the past month

No, I'm not a thief... My definition of 'Steal' means something I hanker after each month and I finally get it after some consideration. After setting enough aside for my parents, travelling costs and basic expenditure (makan, misc) , I usually pick something to get something for myself each month. Something to pamper myself with for working hard~ (Hyak hyak) Here's some stuff I bought recently.

Creative Zen V Plus 8GB (to replace my Creative MuVo 512MB from donkey years ago)
adidas canvas tennis shoes! Not a steal actually, I was forced to get this when the sole came off my heel one day while at work... But not bad a steal at 47 bucks~ (original at 59)
adidas Firebird jacket. My latest steal, been wanting to get one of these for ages...
More to come soon! =)

Maximum Spider!

Just caught Spidey 3 at GV Yishun with GY this afternoon! Gotta say it's not bad, it almost follows the original storyline pretty closely 'cept for a few things here and there.

Eddie Brock isn't actually that of a small size. He was in athletics first before switching to journalism. So he's pretty huge size and he was a reporter with another newspaper company instead of the Daily Bugle as well. LOL. Shall not reveal anymore about the movie lest someone sues me already. Out of 5 stars, I would give it 4 stars! So catch it soon before the run ends.

One thing I find it cool though. I'm a fan of mindless, useless trivia, you see. (Think along the lines of Matrix and LOTR)

Spiderman 1: Spidey faces off against 1 villian, the Green Goblin
Spiderman 2: Spidey faces off against 2 villians, Harry Osborn(?) and Dr. Octopus
Spiderman 3: Spidey faces off against 3 villians, Venom, Sandman and The New Goblin (Harry Osborn)

Cool, eh? The next sequel might have the emergence of another villian, the Lizard who is *gasp* Spidey's professor! He has one arm missing if you've noticed... (Again, another trivia) and tried to use reptilian DNA to regrow his arm. Bad move coming, as you see it. Also hope to see my al time favourite villian of Spidey too! Carnage! Whose name is Cletus Kassidy, a murderous serial killer and Eddie Brock's prison cellmate later. The symbiote that became Carnage was spawned from that of Venom... Hohoho..

Carnage, more insanely powerful than Venom and Spiderman COMBINED.

To end things off, got a nice Youtube video of Spiderman vs Venom in a video game. (Think it's Marvel vs Capcom 1 from the background stage) This also explains the title of my post too! It's one of Spidey's special moves where he leaps onto a wall and hits the enemy for 5 times. "Maximum Spider" is something I personally utter when something serious happens. Haha. Enjoy! P.S Check out the last special move that Spidey does at the end of the video. Those who watched the movie should be able to identify it. *winks*

Updates for the past week~

Haven't had time to blog this week so I'm giving everything in a nutshell here.

Took leave on Monday but din go anywhere cause my right foot hurts again! I'm guessing it could have been the sneakers I wore on Friday to work. Just when I could walk normally.. Sianz..

Went for Peiling's bdae celeb on Wednesday at Sizzlers' @ Suntec. Supposed to meet there at 7 and almost everybody was late! One thing I cannot stand is ppl being late (for too long). The manager kept coming to our table to remind us that the kitchen would be closing at 8.50pm and the salad bar at 9.00pm. Think it's important to remind us cos the cost of the main entree comes with access to the salad bar... Anyway, everybody came in the end and finally celebrated Peiling's bdae. =) Happy bdae, Peiling!
My Mushroom Cheese Steak at Sizzlers'! Yummy!~

Met Huiru for dinner on Thursday at Bugis and we had a great dinner together at Aji-Tei. I tried the Nagoya Special Miso Katsu (Cutlet) Set and it was not bad. We went for the specialty desserts later. She's planning to go to Taiwan with her friends soon, so I gave her a few tips about accomodation and getting around. Haha~ Suddenly reminded me of the good time I had in Taiwan for my grad trip. LOL
My Mocha Sundae Anmitsu + Huiru's Sundae Anmitsu!
Difference is mine has green tea flavoured icecream instead of vanilla.

Helped Ashlyn to book a hostel room in Hokkaido cos the website was almost entirely in Japanese. Suddenly become the Japanese Transalator.. although my level is far from being good... Going to pass her my shopping list soon! Haha~

And last night (Friday), I was about to leave my office when the sole of my shoe came off! *stunned* So i went to Raffles City (rendezvous point) to get some shoes for replacement immediately and got myself a pair of adidas canvas tennis shoes, which kinda looks cool! Anyway, some of us gathered to celebrate Val's bdae at The Post Bar @ Fullerton and got to know some of Val's friends who are connected to me in some way! Singapore is too small! One is working in the same company as my sis and is currently undergoing training by her and the other fren's colleagues used to be my ex-coursemates in ECE back in NUS! Had fun and drinks last night and I taught the 请你跟我这样做 game from the 齐天大胜 variety show. And it seems that they had fun, especially Val! Happy birthday, Val! =)

I shouldn't be going out this weekend. Gonna rest my feet at home~

What your name means!

Tried this off WY's post...

You entered: Hwee Wei Chuen Jaron

There are 17 letters in your name. Those 17 letters total to 88There are 8 vowels and 9 consonants in your name.

Your number is:

7 (Editor's note: It's my favourite number!!!)

The characteristics of #7 are:

Analysis, understanding, knowledge, awareness, studious, meditating.

The expression or destiny for #7:

Thought, analysis, introspection, and seclusiveness are all characteristics of the expression number 7. The hallmark of the number 7 is a good mind, and especially good at searching out and finding the truth. You are so very capable of analyzing, judging and discriminating, that very little ever escapes your observation and deep understanding. You are the type of person that can really get involved in a search for wisdom or hidden truths, often becoming an authority on whatever it is your are focusing on. This can easily be of a technical or scientific nature, or it may be religious or occult, it matters very little, you pursue knowledge with the same sort of vigor. You can make a very fine teacher, or because of a natural inclination toward the spiritual, you may become deeply emerged in religious affairs or even psychic explorations. You tend to operate on a rather different wavelength, and many of your friends may not really know you very well. The positive aspects of the 7 expression are that you can be a true perfectionist in a very positive sense of the word. You are very logical, and usually employ a quite rational approach to most things you do. You can be so rational at times that you almost seem to lack emotion, and when you are faced with an emotional situation, you may have a bit of a problem coping with it. You have excellent capabilities to study and learn really deep and difficult subjects, and to search for hidden fundamentals. At full maturity you are likely to be a very peaceful and poised individual.

If there is an over supply of the number 7 in your makeup, the negative aspects of the number may be apparent. The chief negative of 7 relates to the limited degree of trust that you may have in people. A tendency to be highly introverted can make you a bit on the self-centered side, certainly very much self-contained . Because of this, you are not very adaptable, and you may tend to be overly critical and intolerant. You really like to work alone, at your own pace and in your own way. You neither show or understand emotions very well.

Your Soul Urge number is: 3

A Soul Urge number of 3 means: With the Soul Urge number 3 your desire in life is personal expression, and generally enjoying life to its fullest. You want to participate in an active social life and enjoy a large circle of friends. You want to be in the limelight, expressing your artistic or intellectual talents. Word skills may be your thing; speaking, writing, acting, singing. In a positive sense, the 3 energy is friendly, outgoing and always very social.
You have a decidedly upbeat attitude that is rarely discouraged; a good mental and emotional balance.

The 3 Soul Urge gives intuitive insight, thus, very high creative and inspirational tendencies. The truly outstanding trait shown by the 3 Soul Urge is that of self-expression, regardless of the field of endeavor.

On the negative side, you may at times become too easygoing and too optimistic, tending to scatter forces and accomplish very little. Often, the excessive 3 energy produces non-stop talkers. Everyone has faults, but the 3 soul urge doesn't appreciate having these pointed out.

Your Inner Dream number is: 4

An Inner Dream number of 4 means: You dream of being a very solid citizen that people can depend upon. You strive for organization and predictable order. You want to be recognized as a person with a plan and the discipline to make that plan work like clockwork.

Haha, kinda true especially about the perfectionist part and the organised part.. But i din study well too.. Haha...

A long weekend...

Spent most of my saturday sleeping at home.. Finally completed Command and Conquer 3.. The last mission for Scrin was pretty tough but i managed to get by.. It sucks that I can't play online.. and the thing that irritates me is that I dunno what's the prob.. I just get an error msg saying "Could not connect to the backend server". I connected once before but did not try any mulitplayer game. So I believe my connection settings are fine. Just thinking that the CC3 server is screwed up...

What to do tomorrow I guess? Maybe it's time to assemble my Minerva model i bought from Japan. Was going to spray-paint it with metallic grey, but I'm just gonna assemble it au nutural instead. :P

Strike!

Managed to get my homies out for bowling at Safra Yishun last night. It's really been a while since I last bowled and I was pretty surprised at my result. Haha. Average of 136 (let down by a bad third game) and an average of 4 strikes per game. =)

Everybody was having fun giving high fives after a spare or strike and "aww"-ing when someone misses a pin or 2 to convert a spare or in a strike. That's plain good ol' fun. =)

We went for supper later at S11 and ended up chatting all the way till 4+ in the morning. Woot~ Anyway, looking forward to the long weekend. Applied for leave on Monday! Good time to catch up on my sleep.... Zzz...

A touch of kindness

I was on the train, on my way to office on Friday morning, when I suddenly heard a loud THUD sound and saw a young office lady lying on the floor. Ppl ard her scrambled to help her up slowly and one kind soul gave her medicated oil to rub at her temples. Others asked about how she was. One other lady offered to bring her to the doctor but she replied she was fine. Me? There were too many ppl offering help already, i would kinda be extra if I were to show some concern too.

She looked fine later when most of us alighted at tanjong pagar mrt and I could see that people were still looking out for her. That's kinda sweet, don't you think? Singaporeans may be infamous for being inconsiderate, rude and kiasu, but I'm glad there are a few kind souls among us. =)

Penny for your thoughts?

Went to Tan Tock Seng Hospital today for my appointment with a podiatrist (foot specialist). Senior consultant. Paid $75 to see him for 10 mins and hear him say, "Dun wear that shoe anymore", "Get a new pair of shoes", "Rest your feet well" and "You're discharged!".

Felt conned... Period.

Busy week past..

Wow, just realised that it's been almost a week since I last blogged... had a busy week at office and had my personal record of staying in office late till about 8... haha. not that I'm complaining. The first few months were boring, with learning the ropes and waiting for stuff to come. Now that my manager has seen some quality in us, he's handing us projects to my colleague and I to take up on our own. To the dismay of my colleague and to my delight! Hehe, at least now I look forward to work and time passes pretty fast now. =)

Midweek, I called Sarah for a quick chat on the phone. She's pretty busy with her stuff so I understand perfectly that our communication by sms was pretty limited and I send her stuff that doesn't need any reply. It was pretty nice, just hearing her bubbly laughter. And that helped make my day even when I was plagued with lotsa problems~ Thanks, Sarah!

Went to play pool with Law last evening and I realised I've improved by quite a bit. Normally, I'll lose to him by a margin of 4-5 games out of 10 but last night we were neck to neck for the first half and I finally lost out to him for abt 1-2 games? GY and YY, beware! *ROAR* Lol.

Later meeting GY for lunch and getting my Weinbrenner slippers that I badly need. My feet hurts when i wear my regular slippers and I can't use my heel supports on my slippers. They'd look horrid!

Going back to office for a while tomorrow for some testing and off to TTSH for an appt with a podiatrist on Monday morning. See how my life is "fun-filled"? =)

Peace~

Slack weekend

It's been a long weekend all thanks to Good Friday! But I've been slacking away at my cousin's place playing with his 7 dogs and PS2 as well. Never really went out cept on Friday for dinner. Wanted to give my feet some rest before the weekdays comes again.

It's good to visit the dogs now and then. They'll remember you, adorable, playful, provide companionship even right now when i'm blogging away at my cousin's com~ They dun bear grudges against you and are much easier to take care. Humans are tedious~

Speaking about that, it's difficult to understand what a girl thinks. I wish I could have that power that Mel Gibson had in What Women Want. When he can read womens' mind and work it to his advantage. Not that I want to read ppl minds' but it makes things easier to work out something between ppl to avoid misunderstandings and prevent arguments from happening... Meanwhile, I'm confused on whether I should go ahead as per EW's advice and just give up because I'm afraid of rejection again.... =(

*Confused* signing off..

=)

Finally surviving thru the week, it's a holiday today! Means can sleep in and slack ard the house! haha.. in fact it's time for me to rest my feet.. it still hurts ever since a month ago...

Anyway, the whole jing gang (Law, GY, YY and BZ) came over to my place! So happy, rarely got a chance to meet up cos everybody's busy or occupied.. We played Dividends and 2 rds of German Bridge later. Been a while since I had some fun already~ Thanks guys~

Oh yes, finally after 10,00 years (4 months actually), I finally got my Kenneth Cole Watch. Usually won't be able to afford it but I signed up an 8 year membership with SAFRA to get this watch. Badly need a watch since my current one is a little rusty.. *Gasp*

Will try to post a pic of it soon, I guess.. That's all for now! Going to Ivan's place to see the dogs tml. Miss all 7 of them, even Rascal~

Peace~

30

No.. not the name of a movie. It's the age I hope to marry someone by then... YY and BZ's ROM set me thinking. What am I doing with my life right now? So I gotta start planning~ And what if I dun meet anyone by 31? Then that's it. *Poof* Going to take my mind off marriage, relationships and most importantly, girls. Period.

You might think it's silly. I think it's a target I set for myself. =)

恭喜大哥!

It's past my bedtime on Sunday, my right still hurts and I still gotta work tml... But I'm still online blogging. Y? Cos the blog must go on!

This week just past, I've realised that I have some loyal readers of my blog! Ppl tell me on msn that they come visit my blog from time to time and I feel honoured~ Thanks for visiting!

Just some updates for the weekend~

1) Met up with EW on Saturday afternoon for tea at TCC @ Citylink Mall. It's been a while since I've met up with her and we had a good heart-to-heart chat about lotsa stuff over coffee. She's leaving for the UK on a trip next Saturday and hopefully I can get a chance to see her off.... After that, she had a dinner appt at Suntec and I went to Sim Lim square from there.

2) It was quite a painful walk from Suntec to SLS (Sim Lim Square) and i regretted walking just in order to save money. Anyway, I went there to get a copy of Command and Conquer 3 (CC3). It's been a while since I bought a computer game last one being Heroes of Might and Magic 5: Hammers of Fate expansion. Wanted to buy the normal edition of the game cos nowadays I'm not into collector's stuff but changed my mind cos the Kane Edition (limited) came with a Razer Mousemat which is worth $30+! And I just need to pay like $20 extra on top of the normal price. Tried it out for the first few missions of GDI and the gameplay and graphics rocks! =)

3) Sunday was a happy day for me. By now, you must be wondering what the title of my post means... It's that YY has finally gotten MARRIED! Yes, now they're officially Mr and Mrs Ng already.. LOL The solemnization ceremony took place at Hotel Rendezvous and there was a reception buffet after that where I gorged myself silly... *blush* Really happy for YY and BZ as it's like moving forward onto a different stage of life. *weep*

After that, Law, GY and I went to play pool nearby at Pool Junction and I had a good time, winning most games today. Thanks guys~ Seems like I've improved slightly. =) YY and BZ joined us after that! Haha~ Thanks to my persistant psycho-ing... So here's wishing YY and BZ a blissful marriage! Must grow up now hor, 大哥!

4) Went on down to Hark Music Cafe @ Prinsep Street to lend support to YS, who's gotten into the finals of a singing competition. Gotta say that the finalists all have a certain level except for one, who said is ability was affected by illness, which turned out to be fine later.. Lame! YS did well and he won the Best Hosting Award (最佳主持人奖) I knew he always had a flair for talking... He din get into the top 3 places (out of 8) but at least he won an award, while 3 others didn't, including the "sick" guy...

It was my first time there today and was surprised to find out that it was its last day of business as they are going to undergo some renovations soon to convert it into a performance studio and training room. Kinda lucky that I was able to patronise the cafe on its last day of business~

That's all for now~ I still gotta try to edit the wedding photos I took pretty soon and I have yet to do my japanese homework for today's (it's past 12 already) lesson! しまった!(Oh dear!)

=)

P.S To someone out there, know you've been busy this past weekend, hope you've seen my sms and reply soon. Take care~

Cowabunga!

Met up with Sarah at J8 for dinner together and to catch TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the mis-informed..)

We had dinner at Ajisen Ramen and had a great time chatting and catching up on each other. After all, it's been 10 years since we met! Lol... It was great chatting with ya. ;)

Later we collected our tickets and shopped around J8, looking for a deck phone and other random stuff. She also contemplated getting a camera and I showed her my Ixus 50 for her to try it out. Hehe~

We had dessert before the show at Haagen-Dazs and this is a sample of what she took.

Not bad right? Nowadays point-and-shoot digicams are designed for amateurs like us so shouldn't take much effort to take decent pics. So I had a go and took a pic of what we had for dessert.
This is called Divine~
Caught the show and felt it was not bad. My fav cool Raphael, still typical bad boy.. and Michaelangelo still so funny... Something interesting Sarah and I shared between us. The first TMNT movie was our very first movie~ How cool is that? No wonder we wanted to catch the show...
It was pretty much an enjoyable evening and probably next time we're going to play pool or she's going to bring me to taste "Best Chicken Rice in Singapore! Really!" ard her place! Looking forward~
=)

Is being nice enough?

Saw deb online yesternite. It's been a while since she went to London to do her Masters and I was in for a surprise when she said she was in Singapore! A little short trip to surprise her mom for bdae celeb. How sweet can that be?

Anyway, she saw my MSN photo of Jung Ryu Won (pic below) and asked if whether I have a gf. I replied "What do you think?" and she said ""yes!!!!"

I told her no and then we went into a lengthy discussion of self-confidence and stuff liddat. And then at one point of time, she suddenly said "But Jaron, you're a nice guy and nice guys are hard to come by nowadays." I was slightly taken aback cos I seldom receive such compliments, let alone from a hot babe like deb. Din know whether it was said to cheer me up or it was really for real (oxymoron there). But I was touched. Thanks deb~ That really made my day.

I chose to reply that being nice doesn't really attract girls in Singapore. To that she said, "you'll be surprised, in relationships, it matters!" Lotsa girls might want to rip my throat after this but I kinda feel that gals in SG are typically looking for the whole package. Good looks / physique is one thing, having a good career is another, having a car is definitely a bonus. Being nice is the icing on the cake. I have seen my gal-frens falling for bad boys, only to have the bad boys cheating and bullying and abusing them and the girls just can't get enough of them. *rolls eyes*

But average guys like me out there who are reading this, have no fear. I have guy frens too who are average like you and me, who have found partners who treasure them for what they are, who know that character lasts in a relationship and almost / are happily married.

That gives a glimmer of hope in my boring, mundane and sometimes sad life. But that's how I remain optimistic all the while. You'll usually see mi smiling even though I'm down cos there's always something to look forward to every now and thenn. =)

Cheers!

Yes! Finally won at Settlers of Catan!

After a long, tedious, always-getting-mocked losing streak of 18 games with GY and Law, I finally won a game of Cities and Knights of Catan! With 2 metropolises (someone correct me if the plural form is wrong), 3 cities, 2 settlements and 1 merchant!

Thanks to GY and Law for the win~

Anyway, thanks to my sis who bought I-weekly for me cos there's Fiona Xie! *beams* see if i can upload one pic from the magazine to here or not...

Feet still hurts so limping to office tml! Peace ppl!

=)

Happy Birthday Weihao!

Met up for lunch with Weihao and Yiliang at Amoy. It's been a while since I met up with Weihao cos he's usually busy on Thursday. Haha~ So he suggested changing our usual lunch day to another day instead. So decided to change it to friday then~

What Weihao din know is that some of us are planning a surprise bade celeb for him in the evening. So kinda felt weird to meet him for lunch AND dinner on the same day. Haha~

I had second thoughts of joining the group for the celeb cos that would mean that I would have to limp from City Hall to Suntec City... *ouch* but for Weihao's sake... grin and bear with the pain!

We had dinner at Crystal Jade Kitchen, which isn't my top-rated choice chinese restaurant.. Haha. It's in third place below Ding Tai Fung (2nd place) and Imperial Treasure (1st place). And when I tot I was late, I hastened my pace and ended up seeing ONLY yiliang there... The rest were late! *roar* then one by one, the rest of the group turned up. Weihao was genuinely surprised to see us! Maybe he thought he was only going out with Wee May, who was actually trying to delay him for the rest of the grp to come!

So here's wishing Weihao a Happy 26th Birthday! May your wishes come true, buddy~

P.S Cat, where's the group photo???? Quick send to me! Thanks!

Editor's note: Finally here's the group photo! Thanks to Cat~

X-ray!

A for apple, B for ball, X for ... X-ray! Just went down to Yishun Polyclinic to get an X-ray done on the advice of my GP. Thanks to Law for accompanying me down but it was our first time visiting the polyclinic. Since my right foot hurts, no choice. Took cab to and fro.

Cab ride to and fro: 3 dollars. X-ray: 21 dollars. Pretty radiologist and receptionist at polyclinic: Priceless! Law also agreed. :D But too bad I can't get to know the results of the x-ray. The report and film will be dispatched to my GP and she'll let me know soon. Nice of her to call me and check on my foot just now while I was at the polyclinic waiting!

Now I need to rest my foot more. Doesn't hurt that much now though, after taking the new painkillers. But then again, it only numbs the pain, but I might be doing further damage to my foot without knowing.. Better play safe and limp around bah...

Peace~

P.S: Just added a music player that only plays one of my favourite songs by Fort Minor called "Where'd You Go". Go listen to it! It's below my chat box. =)

Pitstop again~

Met up with Huiru and her friend, Esther for lunch today. She's working at Deloitte as a tax assistant (I think so...) and is in the same building as I am! Left early from work to go for medical appointment at National Skin Centre (Thanks Mr Gary!) and then later met up with Irene for a little shopping around Raffles City. Both of us were saying that it's been a while since either of us came to Raffles City to shop... haha..

She bought a blouse (or shirt?) from G2000 and I was tempted to get a shirt but it's so expensive! Maybe wait for sale then buy bah... haha~

After that went to meet my Law, GY, YY and BZ to eat at play at Pitstop Cafe! This should be the 4th time I've been to Pitstop already and the v first time eating at a Board Game Cafe. I had Fish and Chips and it was not bad! Then we played games like Blokus, Pit, Kill Doctor Lucky ( a draggy game) and a fun game called Squint! Squint is like taboo except you have to use shapes on cards to give clues to let people guess! Hehe.. And of cos the usual suan-ing from Eve, ex-schoolmate and lady boss of Pitstop! But it's ok lah. It was v enjoyable that night!

Played till about 11 plus and managed to rack up a 100 bucks for Law to get a membership card. So now both of us are officially Pitstoppers! Here's a pic of the group that day!

And here's a pic of me and Irene! *beams*
On another note, I hurt my right foot badly by wearing my Renoma shoes on Thursday. Just went to see the doc this morning and she said that the insoles or shoes were not of the correct fit and my foot hurt like hell right now! Now I wince with pain with every step I take.. *Ouch*

Bad things come in pairs..

I was working at my desk at 11:50am yesterday when I thought someone pushed my chair from behind and that my headache was getting worse when I saw my monitor shake a little too much.

A commotion went around the office with people complaining of the same stuff. Then someone shouted "Earthquake!" I was thinking how is it possible that Singapore can experience a earthquake right at the doorstep? Could it be that the tectonic plates have shifted so much already? Next thing I knew was my director was passing down instructions for people to evacuate the office. Weird thing is people were still taking their own sweet time to leave... Wondering if people will still do the same if the actual thing were to happen...

So early lunch for us as we stepped out of the office with the security guard asking everyone "Building shaking ah?" Thinking about it, this is the first time I've experienced a tremor of the like cos usually Yishunians like me dun really feel anything way up north (but my parents felt it back at home yesterday too...)

Read from the papers that ppl evacuated again during the second time but our office still remained in our seats... Haha... Also read that 80 ppl died in the quake with more ppl trapped under the flattened houses.. That's terrible.. *offers a silent prayer of the vics*

Oh well.. Went to the company doc to get some medicine for relief of my sore throat and was told that there were 2 ulcers on my tonsils! Ouch~ that explains the constant pain when I eat, drink, breathe...

Oh well... to avoid spicy and sour food though... Anyway, I went to collect my JLPT3 cert from JCS with Wins, Kaye, Yafang and her frens... then had dinner at Parklane Wanton Noodles at Sunshine Plaza with a few of them. Wins had to rush home to catch his 9pm show.. *rolls eyes*

Hopefully I can take a nice photo of the cert and upload the pic soon. Now on MC for 2 days. kena condemned as MC king already lah.. Sianz...

JLPT3級合格!

I passed my JLPT3 exam with 92.25%! And it's better than my expectation of 90%!

*beams*

Featured!

Had dinner and caught Epic Movie with Huiru at Cineleisure Orchard yesterday. It's been a while since I saw her with her friends at Manhattan Fish Express the other day. At first it felt kinda weird cos we didn't really chat much when we were working at IRAS, cos I tot her as dao and we were in different offices that time too..

We had a great dinner at Xin Wang HK Cafe as we chatted almost about everything. Turned out that our Mandarin was buang. Haha~ Laughed ourselves silly from start to end of Epic Movie. To those who are going to catch it soon, stay all the way till the end of the credits. There's something funny at the end~ ;)

Everything was fine except I did not feel too well during work in the late afternoon and even out with Huiru to. I shrugged it off, thinking it as fatigue. Only to realise later that I was running a fever! Must have my sister who passed to me! *Roar* Took 2 panadols yesternite and went to see the doctor this morning. 2 days MC but if I can recover soon enough then I should be able to return to work on the morrow.

Until now, you guys must be thinking what's my title gotta do with this, right? Just take a look at the webby below to find out

That's me in the red oval!

楽しかった!

Means enjoyable! Hosted a high school student from Joyo Senior High School in Kyoto over the weekend and had a blast of a time bringing them around on Friday and Satuday. Places included Night Safari, Orchard, Suntec, Bugis Street. Even brought them to Pitstop too to show them how a board game cafe looks like!

A pic of me and my hostee, Taizan

I travelled around with a few other hosts and hostees over the weekend. Surprised to see Karen from my YCK session. Turned out that one of her friends was hosting 2 girls as well. Double surprise to see Fengrong who also joined me bringing my Osaka friends around Singapore last year too.

A pic of us all!
Seated from L to R: Satomi, Yuuka, Fengrong, Karen and Alice
Standing from L to R: Alex, me, Tomoya, Taizan and Hidetoshi

It was a quite a tearful and emotional farewell at the airport on Sunday. After the sensei had briefed them at the boarding gate, cue in photo frenzy! I managed to take a lot of photos with most of the students. Their group was pretty huge compared to my last homestay, 31 ppl this time! And pretty young too! Only 17 years old!

Here are some of the pics~
Yuuka and me. I usually call her princess cos she looks like one!
Saori and me~ The official cutest girl in the whole group.
Lotsa guys queueing up to take photo with her but she asked to take photo with me instead. ;)

硫黄島からの手紙

For those who can guess the title, yes, it's letters from iwo jima.. had a hard time trying to write the title in japanese cos i tot the hiragana for iwo was just "iwo" and actually it's "iou".
haha~

Caught the sneak at Cineleisure Orchard with TF and JW after bai nian at my 姑妈's place at toa payoh. Weird that the sneak was at 4.40pm though...

The show was good! It lasted for about 2 1/2 hrs long. And TF, I upgraded the rating from 3 1/2 stars to 4 stars already. It's not your typical war film where it focuses on the action. Instead it tells the stories from different letters. From the typical Japanese soldier to the high ranking Colonel and even an American soldier! It also speaks about the extremist loyalty for one's country and the fragility of human life, I think.

For those who are going to catch the show, do enjoy it!

Later went to my aunt's place to play mahjong and I won about 16 bucks! Enough to cover my movie and dinner money sia, with some spare left!

Now going off to another aunt's place for gambling and steamboat (again)!

Happy Chinese New Year to all!

Pitstop again~

Went to Pitstop for a get together with YY, BZ and GY last night. Too bad Law couldn't join us... Good to see Eve again. She got married in Jan this year~. Hehe.

We played a total of 5 games that night. In order (I think), Pig Pile, Sequence, Ingenious, Hey! That's my Fish and Catagena. Here's a pic below we took, courtesy of Pitstop. Hopefully can organise an outing for A07/08 ppl as well as YCK ppl soon.

By the way, Happy Chinese New Year to everybody! Although it's only 除夕today.. LOLx

I Love..

your big, beautiful eyes...

your nice auburn hair...

the way you insist on having it your way...

the way you blush when someone compliments you...

the way you carry yourself...

the caring, kind side of you...

If only you knew how I felt about you this way...

Happy Valentine's Day~

Brewerkz~

Went for team dinner at Brewerkz just now cos 2 of my bank's Global Heads were in town. Not 1 but 2! Very rare occasion, so my boss said. So off we went to Riverside Point at Clarke Quay...

Wanted to take the MRT there, but ended up walking from my office (Shenton Way) to Clarke Quay! Lol.. Then tucked in a hearty dinner of steak and mashed potatoes.. One thing good is that the tab's being picked up by the bank~ Wahaha~

Valentine's day tml le... Just gonna wish ppl happy friendship day here and there I guess... Striving hard to fufill one of my resolutions for this yr...

Gotta go sleep already.. Out late 2 nights in a row. *yawnz*

Babel~

Caught the show with peeps from YCK last night at Cineleisure Orchard. There were mixed reviews after the show from everyone but Weihao and I particularly liked it.

It revolves around events happening in 3 different regions around the World that are somehow related. These places are namely USA-Mexico, Morrocco and Japan. Showcases the different aspects of human life like love, hate, war, peace, racism, family, prejudice, politics, birth, death, unacceptance, trust, distrust and many more. (Maybe ppl who watched the movie can try to identify those aspects I said?) It was quite interesting to pick out each of these from the movie and enjoying it at the same time.

So people, if you're looking for a thought-provoking movie, catch Babel now~ But be warned, the show's 2 1/2 hrs long and it's not for those who prefer the usual blend of movies... =)

Peace~

こんばんは、先生!(Good evening, teacher!)

Had my first Japanese lesson in a long time since May last year! Great to be in Kojima sensei's class once again.. Her lessons are always so enjoyable and fun to learn as well~

And time passed so fast that I din even realise that it was the end of the lesson le~ And I got homework... =( when I tot I finished uni already... Haha~

Looking forward to next week's lesson! *beams*

Enjoyed my weekend though it's too short~

Went to Qian Hu fish farm on Saturday for outing with the kids from YCK and had a whale of a time there!

The kids got a chance to try fishing. My kid din catch any, but i helped him to catch a couple of them. And he gets to bring them back home! That was nice~

Today (Sunday) was sweet! Long awaited outing with my brothers, especially YY and BZ cos haven't got the chance to see them in a while. Lawm GY and I met up earlier to get BZ a Mango voucher for her gift and got birthday cards for them too~ Added a little encoded message in the cards such that they had to read from card to card. Hehe...

After dinner at Pepper Lunch, we headed down to Mind Cafe at Boat Quay and played a couple of board games there. Managed to use my voucher (from Blokus compy) and tot i could use my last one to buy a game. But the guy said they doing stocktaking now and not taking orders! Sianz cos my vouchers expires on 1st Feb. Guess it's goodbye voucher~

YY and BZ getting married in April le, and i start to think about my own future as well.. The topic of getting married and starting a family before 30 came up among us. Now worrying whether it's possible to achieve that... I'm already 26 so that leaves like 4 years or so.. No use worrying over it. I believe in fate, although it's been playing tricks on me so far, hope my luck's taking a turn for the better soon... Gotta think of what to get for the lucky couple for ROM gift and i think Law is up to something...

Looking forward to tml! Going to attend Kojima sensei's class at Cairnhill CC. Her lessons are always fun and enjoyable! Although I have missed 2 out of 10 lessons, but i guess that's not so bad. At least I get a chance to use my Japanese and hopefully improve on it as well! Will post about my first class if i'm not dead tired tml..

Peace~

Apocalypto!

Just caught the show with my usual mates and wy at Causeway point! Then suaku me long time never go to woodlands liaoz.. Din know banquet opened on the 7th floor and i almost tot the cinema was gone! Haha... Silly me..

The show's not bad... In fact, it's great! But it's not for the faint-hearted.. it's m18 (some violence) you know... then as usual, there's a girl seated somewhere behind me who has to comment on every little thing that goes on in the show... despite my sshh-ing... haiz...

Do catch it while you can! and dun go in with a full stomach too... Haha...

Something GY commented on the show.. "Education is impt". Try to figure that one out when you watch~ =)

Liverpool 2 Chelsea 0

'Nuff said.

A tale of bad service...

Met up with A07/08 ppl last night for dinner at Marina Square. There was Wins, TF, Rach, JW and WY! Good to see everybody now and then. Ok, I met up with WY so many times these past few weeks that I lost count le.. Haha..

Was pretty looking forward to the dinner cos my work day was quite uneventful... Anyway, we decided (actually me) to eat at Xing Wang HK Cafe and got our seats really fast and ordered. What pissed me off was that the orders took some time to arrive. I noticed some other customers got their baked rice first even after reaching after us!

Tf and Wins, who didn't order the baked rice, had already finished their dinner already then! So I beckoned the waiter who took our order to our table and kindly asked about our orders. He said that he'll check on it but in the end he went around clearing other tables and chatting with another waiter as well!

So I decided to take the matter in my own hands.. Took the order from our table and approached another waitress and someone whom I think should be the manager and explained to them our situation. I did make a bit of noise cos JW had to leave early to go back to work that same night! The manager hurried and we got served ours straightaway!

Think HK Cafe @ Marina Square can do better with their service quality really.. The other time I experienced bad service was also at HK Cafe at Kovan there too... Haiz...

We bought a cake for Wins and celebrated for him at Starbucks @ Suntec even though his bdae was already past le.. Hehe... Happy bdae Wins! =)

Going for my volunteer session later and inviting some of them to watch soccer at my place later. Hope the response later will be good though.. First time inviting them to my place even though it's not that big.... =)

Lunch with someone, Nasty OLs and Mind Cafe

First off, thank you princess for having lunch with your lowly subject today. Really appreciate cos sick of having lunch alone all the time..

Second, met 2 nasty Office Ladies (OLs) while walking to Raffles Place MRT to meet shilei. How nasty? They added a few choice words about my skin problem and stepped away from me. I replied with a nice cold stare. Typical me. Not that they are perfect in any sense so why look at other thru tinted glasses! Lived with such prejudice since I had my skin problem so been there done that~

Third, met shilei, qianhao and zhen qin (hope i got his name right) to use our mind cafe vouchers only to find out can use ONLY one voucher per table per visit. And we got 5 vouchers from the Blokus compy the last time (refer to previous few posts for details of compy)

In the end, used one and gave one to a group of people playing as well. There were only 2 groups of us playing tonight.. LOL Then hope arrived! Can use them to buy games less 10 bucks, but they doing stocktaking now, so not selling games~ But I shld be buying Munchkin! Muahahaha.. But as what qianhao and zhenqin said, u usually dun win at ur own games! And that, I feel it's true! LOL

Going to sleep now~ Peace!

A week in a nutshell~

Just a summary of my week past so far,

1. Getting busier at work and gotten to know more colleagues but still no one to have lunch with.. hehe

2. Had lunch with Akemi, who helped me secure this job this Wednesday, together with my colleague, Lay Hong (who Akemi helped too!), and Ogura-san, who also helped me when i was job-hunting too~ =)

3. Had a team lunch (for the first time) with Lay Hong and Christopher. Christopher brought us to this nice little restaurant but the service was terrible. Maybe cos it was lunch hour and busy ppl are irate ppl... hehe

4. Went for usual YCK volunteer session w/o my kid cos last min his mom said he not going le.. There were fewer volunteers today but still as enjoyable~ After that, had dinner at AMK S11 and played pool with a couple of them. Hehe~

5. Tml going settlers! Cos need to use my vouchers before 15th Jan and going to Mind cafe (need to use vouchers too) on Monday! Board game fiesta! LOL

That's all for updates~

Cheers!

Thanks Ash~

Went shopping in Orchard this evening, First stop to G2000 to buy a pair of pants. Finally got my pair of pants, not from the Taka Branch but from the Wisma Branch. Shall shop at Wisma branch next time always. Dun like the service from 1-2 staff from the Taka Branch and the selection of clothes there is lesser than the Wisma one too~

Went on to HMV to exchange the headphones Ash and co got me cos they were a bit defective. The manager initially din want to make the exchange as I did not have the original box with me but relented later with a 1-1 exchange of the headphones only.. As if i wanted to keep the box...
Can't wait to use them tml on the way to work! It'll be weird to be using headphones when I'm dress in office wear but who cares~ Also stopped by adidas (yes i'm an adidas-ian) to check out possible buys for shoes for New Year as well as the latest Liverpool jacket which looks kinda cool~ but damn ex at 139...

Met Ash for dinner later at Taka Food court, which I usually avoid due to the lack of seats there. But since we were having dinner at 8+, so getting seats weren't much of a problem. Surprised Ash with the latest Rain album + poster and she insisted on paying me back the money, which I gave in.... So much for a surprise. Haha~ Also got a ride home from Ash while listening to the Rain cd I just got for her. I had the chance to listen to a couple of fast tracks and they were quite nice~

Long working week ahead, hope i can survive through the week sia~ Nite everyone!

Friday, January 05, 2007

Thanks everyone~

Got my headphones as a present from Ashlyn, Weihao and plus dunno how many! Yes, Ash, I'll be using it everyday from now. =)

Eating lunch alone~

Something I'm facing almost every working day. when my colleagues are of a different age group from me. when my friends in other companies are eating with their colleagues. when i'm lonely...

Hopped down to Amoy alone to have lunch today with my trusty brolly. Can't take chances with the weather these days. Turned out that I was the only idiot with an umbrella with me. At least can use that to chope seat!

Decided that next time I'll wait for ppl to ask me to lunch rather than I ask cos usually my friends are eating with their colleagues and I'll sound too desperate if I ask them too often (that's one of my major bad points, thanks to some ppl who pointed that out to me the hard way.. no names allowed :P)

Now I'm afraid I might have the same fate as one of my sis's colleagues who they usually never ask out to lunch and leaves her on her own. *Gasp*

The agony continues~

On another note, my American colleague arrived at office after lunch. He was friendly, in fact the only guy who started talking to me since my first day. Usually I try to make small talk with other colleagues at the pantry or the lift lobby... Reminds me of a taboo my friend once told me. Never make small talk in the toilet! Just smile and move on silently... Lol!

Looking forward to tml! When I can get to leave office a little earlier to go down to Tampines to hand in some form I need for my job... =)

Death Note 2

Finally got down to watch Death Note 2 even though i told myself that I wouldn't wanna watch it after seeing how deviated Death Note 1 was...

Met up with Ivan first and went to get tickets from Cineleisure first. Then headed back to Taka later. Ivan got Ayumi's latest album, Secret, which is now with me actually, cos I wanted to "borrow" some songs from it loh.. keke...

We went browsing in Kinokuniya while waiting for GY to come and I ended up buying the Dark Elf Trilogy by R.A.Salvatore! Been looking for the first book, Homeland in the libraries, both public and private, but it seems to be gone! Anyway, almost forgot it was tradition to have a 20% sale for 1st and 2nd of January each year! Haha so got my books at a cheaper price! *beams*

The show was quite long actually, about 2hrs 20 mins plus. Bladder almost couldn't take it le.. Haha~ Well, turned out that it was not that bad as I thought it would! Deviated slightly from the story but at least they got poor Jealous's look correct!

After the show, went to have dinner at Central where GY and Ivan haven't tried before. I only tried it like once only.. So why not? Had a sumptous dinner at an ok price... So not too bad. Already "borrowed" the songs from Ayumi and looking forward to start on the first book of the Dark Elf Trilogy!

But work starts tml and my new American colleague, transferred from Japan office, is joining us. Dunno how he's going to be like...

NYE Countdown @ Esplanade~

Met up with some YCK ppl to welcome the new year with a BANG @ the Esplanade last night! Had a quick dinner at LJS and went on down to Harry's bar to meet up with the rest of peeps~

Needless to say, we had lotsa fun chatting, drinking, playing games and much more! *evil grin*
Left the bar at 11 and went squeezing into the crowd to find a nice spot to admire the fireworks to come later~ In the end, we managed to find an ok spot that had good ventilation and could still catch the fireworks apart from some trees obscuring the view...

Click on the album below to check out the pics I took last night! YCK ppl can grab them from there too~

Managed to catch the last train home and was quite lucky as the MRT staff decided not to let any more ppl get into the station after I passed through! *Phew*

Spent a lot of time later in the wee hours of the morning, thinking back abt what I've done in 2006. Summed up 2006 as not a good year. Lotsa stuff happened. Mostly are sad among others and I just need to learn how to move on. There's something I must do. I need to seek someone's forgiveness before it's all too late... And if you';re reading this by any chance, I'm sorry and hope we can start all over again as frens~

Anyway, here's wishing everyone a Happy New Year and 2007 be a great year for you! (and me as well) =)

Blokus!

Met up with Shilei today and supposed to go down to Kim Seng CC to support her in a Blokus competition~ Blokus is this simple game that I've played a couple of times at Settler's cafe before.. Anyway, i ended up registering with Shilei as a team to join when she already joined with Qianhao as another!

Qualifiers are played and best score was taken out of 3 games. You can choose to play 1 game if u think ur score's good enuff to qualify. Top 8 teams enter for quarterfinals. And that's what we did when we won the first game! 158 to 134~ hee.. poor secondary sch boys... here's a pic of victory~

Me and Shilei (in pink) after our first victory

After that we went to explore other booths that showcased designer games. Designer games are different from designer goods okie! They are games that are created by locals! Tried Dividends and ended up buying it on the spot cos it was on offer and quite nice to play!

A pic of the game (not everything shown) and a pic of me, Qianhao's fren (dunno how to spell) and the game designers, Nick and Eve

After that, bad news came... Shilei and I qualified and so did Qianhao and Shilei. So the organisers asked that one team to step out... So sianz... They shld have restricted one person to only one team at the start... So I stepped out and got to participate in the lucky draw. And guess wat! I won something! A Mind Cafe $20 voucher! But strange considering that the organisers were from Settler's.. Hmm...

Qianhao and Shilei lost in the first quarterfinal so we went ard looking at other booths. I tried my hand at World of Warcraft Trading Card game, the cards looked v cool. I spent more time looking at the art design rather than hearing him explaining about the rules of the game.. Keke...

After that I played a few games of Blokus (lying around cos quarterfinals never used all and playing was for free..) with Qianhao's fren and 2 other girls that also joined the competition.

The four of us after an afternoon of Blokus~

After that I left for Orchard with the 2 girls who happened to be going to Orchard as well to meet GY for dinner at Taka. Had Ajisen Ramen and tried the super set that had a ramen, 3 dishes and a drink. Ramen always works for me. *Slurp!*

My all time favourite Miso Cha-Shu Ramen and the side dishes we ordered, starting from left clockwise California Maki, fried dumpling, fried prawn, salmon sashimi, fried dumpling (again) and shishamo yaki.
Looking forward to New Year's Eve Countdown tml!

Marche~

Joined some YCK ppl for dinner at Marche, to celebrate the success of the concert, although the concept of concert did come under fire recently...

Anyway, we all gathered at Marche @ Suntec and had a feast. Literally one. Bought loads of food and ended up not being able to finish all in the end.. think too many rosti le.. LOL

Hot topic of conversation was about why the cow became the mascot of Marche so we decided to ask a waiter for fun~ Cue stunned look! Hahaha...

Looking forward to the long weekend when I can have a good long rest!

Curse of the Golden Flower! 满城尽带黄金甲

Just caught the Curse of the Golden Flower with Law after work today. Gotta say it's a better show than the Banquet(夜宴). The movie could have been more enjoyable if not a couple of guys talking in front of me, a guy beside me narrating scene by scene to his gf as though his gf cannot watch the movie, and a kid sitting behind who kept asking his parents this and that... Now I know y ppl avoid the cinemas and rather get VCDs / DVDs (or pirated?)

Not going to reveal too much about the show or Gong Li's ample bosom (pun intended), but Jay Chou's a superhero, able to fell 10,000 with one halberd and avoiding possibly 1,000,000 arrows! Story's a little shaky but movie-goers won't be disappointed~ Worth the ticket price, i think!

Anyway, on another note, my manager had to go on emergency leave cos an accident happened to her daughter... Hope she recovers soon... *prays*

Pitstop!

Joined my frens to have a gaming session at Pitstop Cafe, only later to realise that one of the owners is my secondary schoolmate! Nice to see Eve after all this while! Seems like they started this boardgame cafe business for a year already and they;re doing pretty well!

Like the cosy environment and the great service of the owners too~ I've been a Settlers' fan and I must say that Pitstop is not bad, ya know? Even got myself a membership card also known as a Pitstop Mini~

Ppl interested can hop down to 14B Circular Road, Boat Quay to check it out. More information can be found at http://pitstopcafeinfo.blogspot.com/
Must go support my friend ah! Maybe can organise A07/08 or YCK outings there le~ LOL

Here's also wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year~ =)

Being alone for lunch, dinner, my bdae, Christmas, New Year, and possibly the rest of my life...

Tuesday, December 19, 2006

Bought myself a new bag!

Had lunch with Elaine at Han's today and chatted about lotsa stuff. It's good I can confide in her and the same goes for her too..

After work, met Ivan for dinner at Bugis Junction. Had dinner at Ajisen Ramen and the Pork Curry Ramen I ordered tasted like Myojo's curry noodles. Ivan agreed as well! We went to shop for Xmas presents. Ivan bought a new pair of Nike shoes as his previous ones were going to KO pretty soon... I admit they do look quite nice! And I bought a FX Creations bag for myself! Hee.. Going to use it tml!

Happy Birthday to me!!!!

Super Tired after MINDS Camp over the weekend.. had only 1 hour of sleep due to preparation for the mini-concert on Sunday and ppl bugging me to play card games with them at 4am. >.<

Thank you all to the 18 ppl who wished me Happy Birthday by SMS + 1 who wished me in person! The number of ppl is a personal record broken cos ppl usually forgets my bdae or can't be bothered about it. Haha~ You know who you are! Finally a year older, can't cheat by saying i'm 24 anymore... Pics of presents coming soon!

And today's my first day of work at Deutsche Bank! Reached there super early but HR directed me to the wrong storey making me ask ppl for someone who isn't on that particular floor... Grr...

So I found out I shld be working on the 14th floor rather than the 8th floor. Not too bad for today, spent the good half of the morning, getting started up at my desk, computer, pantry orienteering, miscellaneous stuff.. Nice of my colleague to give me a helping hand. She's only been there for 3 months, but she's a nice and patient lady who never frowns when I ask her questions (so far). Tml my manager shld be back so things may turn out different.. Supposed to meet Elaine (yes yes, if u guessed it correctly, the +1 is her) for lunch but something cropped up for her the last minute, so I had lunch alone at Lau Pa Sat, which was kinda sucky. It was raining and I forgot to bring my brolly too! Sucky X 2...

And I was already super busy from Day 1 already! Which is good in a sense that time passes rather quickly instead of slacking, watching time crawl to six pm...

Looking forward to tml! (^-^)>

Bad news~

UEFA Champions League Knockout stages draw are out.. and Liverpool is facing former champions Barcelona! That's bad... If Liverpool can make it past this round, then it's not too bad after that... Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal have relatively easier oppoonents though, shouldn't be a prob...

On another note, thanks to ZJ, KY and WY for the adidas cap!

Into the sky, to win or die! (-_-)|||

Caught eragon together with Ivan, GY and Law at PS today. Practically wolfed down our dinner at Manhattan Fish Express cos we only had like 15 mins before show time at 7. In the end, the show actually STARTED at 7.20! Argh~ Aside from that, met Huiru at the Manhattan Fish Express. She's one of my former colleagues at IRAS back then and she looked lovely as ever. Hehe.

Predictable story, cheesy one-liners (refer to title of post), a few laughable scenes are the drawbacks of the show but luckily there are heavyweights who save the show from being a total disaster. Jeremy Irons is the young protagonist's master, Brom and John Malkovich rules as the evil King Galbatorix.

According to people who read the book, it's a total letdown. So morale of the story: Do either one and you'll be contented. Read or Watch. Do not try both unless prescribed by the doctor... Lol

T-3 days (^-^)>

All done and deal!

Finally went down to sign appt letter with Deutsche Bank, title: ID administrator. I know, doesn't sound impressive, but at least I get a chance to use Japanese and communicate frequently with colleagues over in Japan. How's that?

Well, I'll be working at DBS Building Tower 2 which is just beside Elaine's workplace. She just said finally got lunch kaki le! Haha. Also looking forward to meet her for lunch in the near future too!

Also went down to Republic Plaza for my medical exam for the job. Suaku me had to call my sis and asked for directions cos I'm still a Shenton Way / Raffles Place newbie! In the end, dunno by what arcane intuition, I managed to find my way there. Usual tests performed like urine, blood, x-ray, eyesight and the likes. And turned out I was FIT for work!

So starting work next Monday, which happens to be on my bdae. Wanted to delay by one day but nobody actually celebs my bdae on a weekday, so might as well start work loh.. I always think of Monday as a good day to start anything. It's like an tradition for me..

Ok~ Will keep you guys updated soon but i'll be away during the weekend. Will be at the annual MINDS Camp. Hopefully I can take a couple of good pics to post it up here. That's all!

T-4 days. (^-^)>

Do I look like a Japanese?

Went to Taka today to collect my Liverpool Home Kit jersey from adidas and played pool with GY till Law came down later to join us~ Finally after the long wait, the S size jersey is in town and thanks to my sis for reserving it for me! :) Also thanks to GY, Law, YY, BZ and JJB for sponsoring the jersey too!

Decided on the impromptu to catch Open Season at the Cathay during dinner time. On the way to the Cathay, I gave directions a group of Japanese tourists to Raffles Hotel from Hotel Rendevous (which is quite a long walk away) The nice obaasan (auntie) then asked me whether I was living in Singapore and my dad was working in Singapore... Haha! She thought I was Japanese! I told her that I'm a Singaporean to her disbelief... Hee~ I took that as a compliment to my Japanese language skills then or maybe I looked like a Japanese according to Law... :)

Now looking at the nice Goldlion dress shirt (bought from Tangs this week) and my Liverpool jersey hung on my cupboard~ *beams*

Btw, my birthday's in a week's time! Wanted to prepare a wish list but not many things I want anyway and most ppl dun bother about my bdae in the first place as well.. So just keep it short and simple...

1) Liverpool Home Kit Jersey (done)
2) adidas cap
3) adidas jacket

Good news come in pairs?

Decided to take up the offer from Deutsche Bank AG instead of Panasonic. Luckily haven't signed Panasonic that side. Think that guy must have been damn pissed with me. Delay liaoz, said want to sign already then last minute 'chu' pattern.. No choice lah, gotta see which one offers better mah.. Both sides offer the same pay but Deutsche Bank is nearer compared to Panasonic, so...

If all goes well, I shld be starting work on my bdae! i.e. 18th December! People pls remember! Haha! yet to upload my wishlist but coming soon...

Another piece of good news is that adidas (note no caps) has M size liverpool home kit jersey! My dear sis just called me to say she reserved it for me liaoz! Gotta go down to Taka tml and collect! :)

Good news come in pairs?

After This Our Exile (父子)

Just caught the show with GY after dinner. Wasn't really expecting to catch a show today but agreed anyway cos it's supposed to be nice and it's a award-winning show (Best Feature Film, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor in the 43rd Golden Horse Awards) , with one of my favourite actresses, Charlie Yeung!

In a nutshell, it revolves around the lives of father (Aaron Kwok) and his son. How they cope with their mother leaving them and making ends meet in Malaysia... A touch of comedy, tragedy and heart-wrenching scenes. The show's rated M18 according to GY, cos of "intimate scenes". That's for sure with scenes involving Aaron and Charlie... The show's ending kinda abrupt too, which I dun like it (remember Casino Royale?) but overall, the movie's ok, but wouldn't recommend watching it over the weekend at that price...

A random search at Google revealed that the phrase "After This Our Exile" is part of a prayer one says after praying the rosary. It goes like this:

"HAIL, HOLY QUEEN, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!"

Which kinda leaves me much to think about... Anyway, good news for me, Deutsche Bank AG has offered me a position as a network ID administrator! Should be taking that up instead of Panasonic~ :)

Also, going to organise a Xmas party for A07/08 peeps on 23rd Dec, so do let me know whether you'll available after reading this post, either by MSN, SMS or tagboard in my blog! Thanks!

Cheers!

*gasp* after looking at clock for time of post... Addictive Neverwinter Nights 2...

(Translation)
The Japanese Language Proficiency test (JLPT) is finally here! I sat for Level 3 this morning and hoping to get a good result for the test! Any score is fine but above 90% would be nice though.. Haha! Reached the school at about 8.45am and a lot of people were already queuing outside the gates! Was really surprised to see the crowd! The whole exam lasted for 3 hours and 15 mins, with 2 intervals of 20 mins in between. After sitting for the test, I found it to be pretty easy though.. Not sure when the results will come but I'll inform everyone once I receive them!
(End of Translation)

After that had lunch with Jacelin, Adeline and Qinghai at Bedok Market before going off to Expo to meet GY to go see SITEX. Nothing in mind to buy in particular, just went there to walk around.. later moved on to the BIG BOYZ TOYZ exhibition that shows cars, bikes, even a yacht, and girls with skimpy clothing on too. Everything to attract guys by the hordes (me included)!

Had dinner with GY and Law and played a couple of games of Settlers of Catan at my place afterwards. Haha, tml going to reply to Panasonic about the offer. Most prob shld be taking it even if it means waking up at 545 every morning and travelling to Bedok...

Cya!

Great weekend (again)!

So busy over the weekend, until now then i blog about it.. Lotsa stuff to blog about, so I shall do it in chronological order~ :)

1) Last day at IRAS!

Last Sat, my colleagues gave me a nice card with well-wishes inside, wishing me the best in my future job at Panasonic (or Microsoft? *prays*) and my manager gave me and another colleague a treat cos he also leaving soon this coming Wed. Had a hearty lunch at Fish and Co and you can check out the pics below~

My baked Salmon with mushroom sauce~

My manager, Lijun and I

Fellow colleague, Fauzi and I

2) Primary sch fren gathering

Looking forward to another gathering that same day, this time with a couple of my primary school friends! Only got four of us, GY, me, Ruizhi and Sharon! Just met Ruizhi on the train a few days ago but for Sharon, wah~ Last time I saw her was back in Sec 1, when we came back to visit our dear form teacher, Mr Chong back in Peixin Pri..
So we had dinner at Spageddies @ Paragon and caught up with each other, actually most of the time, Sharon and I did most of the talking~ LOL
Then kena arrowed by Sharon to organise a pri sch frens gathering next time. T_T Possible idea would be @ Settlers' Cafe? Haha... Here's a pic we took that day~

Me, Sharon, Ruizhi and Guangyu

3) Pool and Movie on Sunday

Felt a bit bored on Sunday, so asked the guys out for a game of pool at our usual pool haunt. Too bad cannot take pic in there. V nice ambience, nice tables and nice cue balls~ In fact, I bought my cue stick from there a couple of years ago. Yy came along too, which was a surprise cos usually he's not free one~ Hehe But anyway, we enjoyed playing pool till about 7-8 (YY had to leave early cos he needed to ta-bao dinner back for his 老婆)
Had chicken rice for dinner at a nearby diner and was about to head back home. We were walking past The Cathay when I just expressed my suggestion of watching a Battle of Wits. To my surprise (twice today), GY and Law were game for it! Ended up watching at PS cos the showtime at The Cathay was pretty late.

Not bad a movie, in my opinion. With a mixture of comedy, drama, romance and war. All the right elements to a great show~ Andy Lau stars as Ge Li, a man invited to help defend a city of 4,000 ppl against an army of 100,000! He supposedly follows teachings that preaches Love All, Serve All, kinda like Hard Rock Cafe~ and he rejected Fan Bingbing's advances! Fan Bingbing's role is of a cavalry general in the city of Liang and Nicky Wu's also in it as an archery officer-promoted to general. I'm quite a sucker for war movies where tactics are involved. Think Gladiator (opening sequence), Troy, Lord of the Rings, etc... And Fan Bingbing is so pretty in the show~ *starry eyes*
That kinda wraps up my weekend, one of the best I had so far~
*To Ashlyn, if you're reading this, Happy Birthday once again! :) *

Don't give a damn whether it's shaken or stirred!

Went for interview this morning at PWC Building for DBS-POSB for the position of Personal Financial Consultant. (And just received a reply through email saying that I was not selected for further interviews T_T ) Anyway, after that, I had lunch with Princess Ang near her workplace in City area. It's been a while since I met up with her. We chatted quite a bit before both of us needed to return to work..

Met up with GY and Law for dinner and went to catch Casino Royale at GV Yishun. It's pretty long! 144 minutes to be exact. Was pretty much looking forward to the show cos I'm a Bond fan! The guns, cars, gadgets (almost none in the show) and the girls! Also the demeanor and style of Bond too! Anyway, the show was an ad fest too! Ford, Aston Martin, Ford, Sony-Ericsson, Sony, etc... Somemore closeup shot of product as well. Best scene I liked was when the bartender asked Bond how he would like his vodka martini shaken or stirred. Reply: Don't give a damn about that! LOL Priceless!

But then, kinda lost about how Bond moved from clue to clue and the ending was abrupt. I was like "huh????" and recovered from initial shock after 1,2 minutes later.. "Liddat called ending?" But I gotta say Daniel Craig's one of the best Bonds in the business as yet, followed close by Sean Connery then by Pierce Brosnan~

That's all for now! Tml's my last day at IRAS! *beams*

I got a job offer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally after 4 months of waiting and interview-going, I finally got a job offer from Panasonic! Applied for this job on my own at the Job Fair I mentioned in my earlier post. Surprisingly, the offer din come with the help from 2 of the job agencies that I've registered with.. Hmm..

But then again, I'm in a dilemna... Both POSB-DBS and Microsoft are going to get back to me soon about the success of my interviews soon.. WY advised me to take up the Panasonic offer first and if DBS or Microsoft offers me, then I'll be able to quit during my probation period and head off to my new employer! Thanks WY for the advice!

Anyway, the shop I usually go to get my figurines, La Tendo, had a 30% sale over the weekend and I got for myself a Mia Campbell figurine from Gundam Seed Destiny! *beams* Pics to come soon!

And lazy me finally uploaded my Gundam pics up to community webshots... The link to the album's below~ Just click on the small pic below to get to the album. Take a look if you want please, gotta say some of the shots din turn out that nice but I uploaded it anyway~

Great weekend!

Finally got my hands on Neverwinter Nights 2 on Friday! Pre-ordered it a couple of months ago together with my cousin and his friend and finally I was informed (by my cousin) that it's here!

Super excited. So went to collect it after my interview at Panasonic at Bedok. So here am I trying out the official campaign with my character, a warlock. Warlocks are a new base class included in this series together with the original classes like fighter, wizard, rogue, etc. Hopefully I'll post 1-2 pics of my warlock in action soon.

That followed with an outing to Settler's Cafe with the usual gang on Saturday! Me, Zj, TF, KY, JW and WY. We played Guesstures, Taboo (twice) and Cranium. Hehe. Loved these games cos they require a lot of interaction with people in the group which ups the fun factor. Here's a pic taken that night.

Hopefully can get more ppl to join us in the next outing, possibly to WY's place? Heard it's HUGE... Hohoho..
Then just joined my buddies for dinner and Law finally "claimed" his bdae present from us. Long overdue since Aug loh.. He bought a Sony-Ericsson K800i (I think) It's more of a camera than a phone, IMHO (In My Honest Opinion, for the mis-informed once again.. ^_^) But I was spending more time checking out Law's new HP than he did. LOL. Just can't get my grubby hands off his phone, you see... :P
That's all for now! Coming soon, my Gundam gallery!

The hunt goes on...

Took a day of leave from work today to go for 2 job interviews. Morning 9.30 am at J.S.T Components (Japanese electronics sales office) at Aljunied and Microsoft Regional Sales at Alexendra Technopark @ 2pm.

Managed to reach the J.S.T office about 15 minutes before the appointed time. Phew~ Scared cannot find the place early in the morning. About 10 minutes walk from Aljunied MRT in long sleeved shirt and I'm almost sweating it out... Someone did mention to me before that it's important that you shouldn't be LATE for an interivew and also said that cannot be too EARLY for one as well. The interviewer might think that you have no concept of time (时间观念)or something liddat...

The J.S.T interview went pretty well, I guessed. Interviewed by 2 native Japanese speakers, an attractive lady and a serious-looking guy, entirely in Japanese. Woot! They were rather surprised at my conversational ability despite not having any certification. But it's all thanks to my Japanese senseis (teachers) in NUS, I said. :) Managed to catch most of the stuff said by the guy, but there were a few funny moments when I asked about the welfare benefits. The lady was also an assistant engineer and the guy was the manager, I think. They were surprised when they found that the benefits differ by a huge marginfor the both of them when trying to explain to me. Haha! Only thing that got me worried was that i was told I had no previous working experience in an engineering firm.. (But I'm a fresh grad for goodness's sake!)

Left about 10.50am and took the train from Aljunied to Queenstown. Decided to have lunch at Anchorage point and head down to Queensway shopping centre later in hopes of finding the oh-so-elusive-sold out-you-got-money-also-cannot-buy Liverpool 2006/2007 season SHORT SLEEVED jersey!

Spent about an hour walking around the WHOLE Queensway shopping centre, but only left L and XL sizes.. WTF! Other bigwigs like Man U, Arsenal and that stinking Chelsea still got S and M sizes available woah... This goes to show that Liverpool damn popular in Singapore sia! *beams* but damn sad cos now cannot find in Singapore le... the shop guy also said jersey not coming in anymore, maybe the red zipper jacket (only available in L and XL sizes >_<) might! Took a short bus ride to Alexandra Technopark to Microsoft for my next interview, which looks to be promising... Lucky I went there before to send my HP laptop for repair. if not newbies sure cannot find the blasted underpass to get to the technopark. Difference now that I had to find Blk B (Microsoft) rather than Blk A (HP repair centre)... Reached there damn early about 1pm! And remembered what my fren said about reaching too early... So I hung around the food court (which I found only accessible by elevator...) till about 1.30pm before I made my way over. Normally when u register at the recep, it's always a form or book you gotta fill in, but at Microsoft, you gotta fill in at the computer terminal! So cool~ Then the terminal will print a sticker which you proudly stick it on your shirt/blouse. The form also required you to declare whether you were down with running nose or cough, and since I was still having a cough from my flu last week, I noted yes for cough. ---> which turned out that the sticker on you would say "Health: Bad" I was like WTF!

Whenever people walked past me and stared at my sticker, they moved away hastily. No prizes for guessing y, yah? Anyway, the interview started at 2.30pm (so much for being early. *grumbles*) and I was amazed at the office at Microsoft! Tall ceiling with spacious cubicles. No. They should be called workstations instead. And posh sofas here and there for staff to work on their lappies. Even saw a futsal (table soccer) table too! *double beams*

Interview went on fine, was asked the usual questions, but answered them with a dash of my own spice. hee. Which got me thinking, if I get the job at Microsoft, does it mean I can use MSN messenger at work? Microsoft mah.. :P

Finished about 3.40pm and took a bus down to ViVocity where the mountain tortoise called Jaron hasn't set foot upon so far...

First impression: Rather huge interior, spacious walking areas for shoppers. Think might go again to visit all the artworks scattered around the complex inside and outside. Headed for Red 2 to see how my uncle's new outlet was doing. i dare say, it's doing pretty well. My aunt didn't have time to chat with me.. Then headed down to the adidas boutique to hope that they might have stock of M size liverpool jersey or zipper jacket. A cute salesgirl approached me and I explained to her my predicament. She only said it's all sold out and asked me to try a specific shop at Queensway instead, which I told her "I just come from Queensway leh..." Haha! In the end, I walked around and spotted some potential buys like a newly brought in cap, a zipper jacket that says "I LOVE TOKYO". Hmm....

After a tiring day of hunting jobs and jerseys, I finally headed back home by train... Phew!

Cough, cough, sniff...

Down with flu since yesterday evening until now.. Damn sianz.... Missed the gathering with my Langkawi ppl.. Also missed saying goodbye to Char whose last day at IRAS today... Went to another doc instead cos my usual family doctor is on holiday (Good life sia!) and will only open his clinic in the evening instead..

Got 2 days MC from doctor and spent most of the time sleeping the afternoon away.. But, received calls from the job agency saying that I have 2 interviews next week! At Microsoft and at JST (Japanese electronics firm). Must have been damn sick cos I could hardly reply properly in Japanese to the job agency ppl.. Also I told my buddies I got interview at Toyota.. That's another pending one that's not confirmed yet.. Haha.. Hope to recover soon in time for the interviews!

Sick Jaron

Confused...

There seems to be no direction in my life right now.. Everyday I'm just going through the same routine over and over again with no progress at all.. Feeling confused over what I should do from now on, how I should carry on with my life... Someone help me please...
