Long weekend!

Thursday: Mentioned this in my earlier post that I was going to go down to La Tendo to check out its 20% sale and got for myself a cute small version of Saber from Fate/Stay Night. Will try to get a pic of it and upload soon. Then had dinner with Ivan and GY before heading back to Ivan's place. The dogs were happy to see me (i guess...) and one of the older dogs even gave me a small bite to get me to play with him~ Hehe~ Also introduced Ivan to the world of Granado Espada and seems like he's taking it like a fish to water!
Friday: Met up with Agnes for dinner at Fish and Co @ Wheelock Place and got my favourite window seat. There was some kind of National Day Celebration thingy at Fish and Co, there was a balloon sculptor going around making free balloon toys for the customers~ Check out the pics below.

The girl who was making the flower was quite skillful and quite cute as well! Haha~
After that, went to Timberland at Taka and bought a pair of walking casual shoes which I had contemplated for a long time.... Having this phobia of shoes ever since I bought 2 pairs of shoes that din really fit nicely. Hope this one works well... The guys (and girl) came to my place for mahjong later and I lost about 6 bucks which was not bad, considering YY and BZ won quite a bit.... Felt a little lucky not to have continued when Law took over my place. Phew~

D'oh!
Yeah! Caught the much-awaited The Simpsons movie at Sun Plaza with my usual mates on Thursday. Got through quite a bit of trouble to get the tickets cos the bloody Shaw Website was down and the hotline wasn't really.. ermn.. hot....
Anyway, I was practically the only one who was laughing from start to end... Guess the rest of the ppl in the cinema din understand or thought that wasn't funny... lol! Liked the part where Homer and Bart playes Truth or Dare! Keke~ For those who are going to watch the movie, be early so as not to miss the start when the 20th Century Fox part comes up!
Wanna watch Gone Shopping but there isn't anyone to join me.. *sulks* oh well...
Meanwhile enjoy your remainder of your weekend! Peace~

Mahjong frenzy~
Mahjong's more than a social activity to me, I feel. Requires thinking, anticipation, keen observation and probability skills (yes, maths!) And the 1 thing I like about the game is how almost every game is different and you could change your playing style during each round to match your opponents'. =)
Going to chill out at home today and just GE all the way... Just managed to clear my credit card bills after sorting through the wad of receipts accumulated in my box all these while! Heh~
Peace~

日本へ行こう!
1. Japan Trip!
Collected my air tickets confirmation slip from Pricebreakers at Marina Square just now. Will be leaving for Japan for a week in October! My first real long break from work since Dec 2006! *beams*
2. Dinner with Ash!
Had Carl's Junior with Ash at Marina Square. It's been a while since I tucked into sinful Carl's Junior and had one of my favourites~ Portobello Mushroom Burger!
It was pretty cold in there but at least we enjoyed our burgers and had a good chat! Then we had shopped around in MS, like G2000, Zara, Topshop, etc. I din get anything cos i spent a bomb at the recent sale at Isetan already.. But Ash got a skirt from G2000, and a pair of pants from Topshop! All prepared for her new job next Mon! Jiayou!
It's always nice to meet her for dinner and stuff~ *double beams*
And my first credit card bill is here~ *Gasp*

Sin....
Chatted quite a bit, mostly about YCK cos I kind of left YCK since Feb already. I didn't tell many about my exodus from YCK but ppl shld know it by now. But oh well...
After that, we had dessert at Bakerzin and enjoyed some nice dessert with my favourite sin, cheesecake. Hee... Didn't realised she was a foodie like I am. Going around, looking for good food to eat! *High Five!*
Cheers to good food! =)

Reminiscience~
Looking ard the place, it reminded me of the short but enjoyable 3 months I worked there with my great colleagues. Thus the title of my post~ (Means remind of or something in that manner)
Then met up with Angie for a while, who was my instructor and mentor in IRAS back then and we had a short chat before she had to go back and finish her reports (which was way after office hours) Nice to meet up with you, Angie!
By the way, this weekend is Live Earth day! Do wear green if you're heading out today to support the event for awareness of global warming!
Peace~

The thing about taxis...
Had dinner at V8 Movie Cafe and ended up watching part of Seoul Raiders while eating! Haha~ More shopping and we parted cos she was meeting her sister for (more) shopping and I to my buddies at Pitstop~
The games we played were not too bad. Here are my reviews~
Jurassic Jumble: A cross between PIT, Heart attack and Dog and Bone (literally) Provided loads of fun for everybody~
Gift Trap: A supposedly simple game with too many rules to remember. Didn't even finish the game. Changed to a new one in 5 minutes flat.
Imaginiff: Quite a fun game I played before. Lets you get to know more about the ppl you're playing with, plus loads of laughter. Always a good ice breaker and easy rules to pick up.
SWAP!: A card game something like Uno with 1-2 extra special cards with the oh-so-gd-touse SLAP! where everybody pools their hands together at the centre of the table a.k.a Heart Attack and the person who played the card chooses his weapon (inflatable mace, toy hammer, hand, fist, karate chop...) to strike down on others. Definitely evil~ but fun!
Took lotsa of photos and will try to upload them soon... Hee
Left at abt 1030 and proceeded to Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf down the street for coffee and chillin out~ and chatted and chatted till about 1.
Here comes the frustrating part. Tried to get a cab home and empty taxis refusing to stop, making a beeline for the nightspots or waiting for booking calls instead, leaving poor us stranded somewhere along North Bridge Road.. One Maxicab stopped and we were delighted initially cos the 6 of us could fit in and we all stayed ard the same area.. but he wanted to get us to quote a price instead of using the meter. It's common sense for him cos he'll be ferrying 6 ppl and if he went by the meter, he could earn a bit more from each person instead. We deliberated and he drove off saying he'll find a better deal somewhere..
His licence plate number is etched in my mind already and I'm considering whether to report him or not, cos ALL taxis in Singapore should run by the meter no matter maxicab or not. You already pay extra for using a maxi cab and you still want to extort us???
We were running out of ideas when I tot of calling my sis for phone numbers of other not-so-popular cab companies. Thanks to my sis who gave me quite few numbers from Smartcab, Transcab and Silvercab. We managed to get 2 cabs from Smartcab at abt 2 in the morning!
Ride home: 25 mins
Waiting time for the cab in all: 1 hour+
Well, this is just Singapore for you.....
Fortunately the rest of the day was great! Thanks to all yeah? =)
Here's a pic of my current family in GE in my favourite V of Victory pose~

Good days and bad days~
Met Ash for dinner at Cafe Cartel at J8 on Thursday and got a chance to use my new Citibank Visa~ Keke. Ash just came back from Japan and she managed to get a box of 白い恋人 (should be able to guess the meaning from the chars right?) chocs for me from Hokkaido! Thanks Ash!
Then later we went for dessert at the basement, forgot the name le.. something like 味-something-园, nice dessert stall and we tried the black sesame paste, which was pretty ok~ =)
Bad Day:
Bad day at office the moment I stepped in in the morning... Can't really reveal much but basically something wrong with my program, no damage done, problem was resolved after 2 hrs later, reputation and confidence loss... Haiz.. then whole day no mood to work, felt a little disappointed...
Nobody like bad days, but we all need bad days to remind us of the good days that we've enjoyed right? And there's something to look forward to everytime, like I'm going to meet Irene for tea later and meeting my buds at Pitstop for a night of fun and games ;)

Fantastic Four!

Caught it with Law and GY last friday at GV Yishun. The show's not too bad~ Great for the family, the kids and even ppl like me. Silver surfer's one of my favourite characters in the Marvel Series. Powerful, cool and noble with a cause...
Catch it if you can! Now waiting to watch Shrek 3 (if it's still ard..), Die hard 4.0, Transformers (No money to buy...)! Wahaha~

Happy Birthday Irene!
Found a nice little spot (away from the touts) and had fishball noodles with satay. The noodles were normal but the satay was pretty ok. We actually met up to celebrate her bdae which was on Sunday and I got for her a Care Bear! One of her favourites~ =)
We went on to walk around Orchard cos she wanted to look for a makeover studio and check out the price. Not really sure where is it in Orchard, and ended up finding none. Anyone who knows a good studio, please tell me thru SMS, MSN or my chatbox in my blog, k? Thanks!
To Irene if you're reading this: Happy birthday once again! =)

GE Raid Party at ZOUK!
Went to Great World City for lunch and reached Zouk at about 3, even though the event started at 2. Here are some of the pics I took during the party although most of them are quite blur.. I need a better camera...
Nasty Hill Giant at the entrance
Phobitian War Chieftain
There was also a cosplay parade as well!
Here's a Muskeeter...
And an Elementalist...
2 lovely Scouts with a pirate
There was also a FHM gamer babe you could take on 1v1 (in GE) She was nice to smile for the many cameras clicking away at her. =)
Me with my favourite Grace Bernelli~
Solune Faction~
From L to R: Darkon Family, LawHain Family and LupusArctos Family and me (missing)
Managed to catch some of the cosplay characters while on the way out! Heh~
Female Wizard. Law thought she looked great~
Female scout 1.
Female scout 2. I prefer this scout though~ LOL!

But she's definitely number 1 for me in the party. *Starry eyed* (*-*)
Peace~

That's what frens are for...
1. Down with a bad cough I got since coming back from Malaysia.. Must have been all the good food eaten there. Haha!
2. Granado Espada. Busy playing and trying to catch up with my mates who've been levelling up so darn fast. Wonder how they do that...
Just read the papers today about this pair of sisters who have 16,000 friends between them. I was like "OMG?" Reading on, I found out that some of the "friends" are pure online friendships, that is, haven't met up face to face before... And ppl are dying to add them as friends. Been to their friendster to take a look and the vlog (video blog) of one of the sisters dancing in skimpy clothes might have been one of the factors...
Last I checked, my Friendster body, I mean friend count is 277 and contacts on MSN is 283. Not too bad, I think, comparing to the ppl around me... =)
Might as well take the opportunity to thank all friends who have showed care and concern for me when I need it. You all rox~ Heh~
Peace~

Parlay?

Just went to catch Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End with Law just now~ And despite bad reviews from friends and newspapers, I still think it's great. Johnny Depp simply shines once again as Captain Jack Sparrow. Wouldn't be able to imagine someone else taking over in his place. It would be like so "un-Jack-Sparrrow"! Haha!
Great cinematography and jokes, but i was a little confused with the numerous deals and pacts that went on with different people in the show but it wasn't all that bad. For those who are going to catch the show soon, stay till the VERY end! Wins waited for like 15 mins but i think the credits ended slightly longer than that. Not much but it wraps up nicely. There could be a part 4 i think, contrary to what some of my friends feel... =)

同窓会、二番目!
The evening started badly when I was late in meeting the rest of the students first and din manage to get a table at the planned Marutama restaurant, when I'm the organiser...
Luckily the senseis din mind that we walk over to Liang Court and find a place there hopefully. We were fortunate to find a place that could accomodate 13 of us! and we even got a private room with traditional Japanese seating arrangement where you can stick your feet below the low table. =)
Had an enjoyable dinner and lotsa fun chatting, cracking jokes (that's me only) around the table. The dinner was actually a farewell dinner for one of my sensei who's leaving for america soon. So we started giving presents. Some of us (including me) got a rolling-ball pen with her name engraved on it. =) She was really delighted to recieve the presents from everybody!
Took quite a few photos and here's the link to the album! I also included photos sent by the same sensei who's leaving for America as well. Enjoy~
http://good-times.webshots.com/album/559196115ttHadB?vhost=good-times
Cheers!
By the way, I made a video which is a slideshow of all the photos taken with classmates and senseis from Japanese 3 and Japanese 4 to give to the different senseis yesterday. The song I used was from YUI, titled Good-Bye Days, which is also the soundtrack of the movie "Midnight Sun" YUI acted in as well! The Youtube video below is the MTV for this song. Enjoy it too!

The four letter word that will drive women crazy..
Was at the Isetan Private sale on Thursday. Didn't feel like going at first cos I felt a bit ill from the Indian lunch I had earlier in the afternoon... But I'm glad I did go in the end!
After breaking through the THRONG of sale-crazy women (and men) at the entrance and on the first floor, I managed to reach the third floor (Men's apparel and shoes) alive albeit a little knock from someone...
First stop: Levi's!
Always wanted to own a pair of Levi's jeans ever since... And now it's 30% off. So GO GO GO! Surprisingly, not too many ppl there and the queue for the fitting room was like 2-3 ppl each time. Silly me had no experience at a sale, so I had only 1 pair of jeans with me each time to try and kept on re-queuing after getting another pair.. LOL
Kept on eye on the new Redloop jeans which cost like almost 200 bucks but sanity came in and i went for a 525 but later 512 instead. Yeah!
2nd Stop: G2000!
Stopped by to get a couple of dress shirts as ppl are beginning to realise how often my shirts repeat across 2 weeks... Hm... Decided on an all white cufflink and a normal striped one.
Was about to go off and look for my sister (needed her Isetan card to get another 3% disc on top on the 30%) when I saw some cufflinks going for 35%. I got myself one pair to replace the plain ones that came with the G2000 shirts I had. My sister managed to find me (reception was bad so calls and SMSes took some time to get through..) and picked one pair for me which looked like chessboards!~ cOoL! (Might post pics of them soon, I hope)
All in all, spent about $190 just 2 days after my payday.. Very bad.... but it's worth it~ =)

Priceless~

Caught this with Ashlyn, Weihao and Huishan on Wednesday. Gotta say this show's worth the full 7 bucks I paid for. It's sexy and funny without making it overboard. Audrey Tautou is at her best, playing Irene, a gold-digging hooker but the real star I felt was Gad Elmaleh as Jean, a lovestruck waiter who falls hopelessly in love with Irene.
Catch it before its run ends!
I also caught 28 weeks later too on Sunday with the boys. Din really enjoy the first show "28 Days Later" but the sequel is pretty decent. Us forces re occupy Britain after the deadly Rage virus is wiped out and refugees stay in containment areas and u guessed it... the virus breaks out and all hell turns loose. Kinda reminds me of what US is doing in Iraq right now. occupying it and making it a "safe" place for the Iraqis to live in... Not too bad though. The scary scenes are that scary so they're pretty safe for ppl who are generally afraid of horror movies. =)

Maximum Spider!

Just caught Spidey 3 at GV Yishun with GY this afternoon! Gotta say it's not bad, it almost follows the original storyline pretty closely 'cept for a few things here and there.
Eddie Brock isn't actually that of a small size. He was in athletics first before switching to journalism. So he's pretty huge size and he was a reporter with another newspaper company instead of the Daily Bugle as well. LOL. Shall not reveal anymore about the movie lest someone sues me already. Out of 5 stars, I would give it 4 stars! So catch it soon before the run ends.
One thing I find it cool though. I'm a fan of mindless, useless trivia, you see. (Think along the lines of Matrix and LOTR)
Spiderman 1: Spidey faces off against 1 villian, the Green Goblin
Spiderman 2: Spidey faces off against 2 villians, Harry Osborn(?) and Dr. Octopus
Spiderman 3: Spidey faces off against 3 villians, Venom, Sandman and The New Goblin (Harry Osborn)
Cool, eh? The next sequel might have the emergence of another villian, the Lizard who is *gasp* Spidey's professor! He has one arm missing if you've noticed... (Again, another trivia) and tried to use reptilian DNA to regrow his arm. Bad move coming, as you see it. Also hope to see my al time favourite villian of Spidey too! Carnage! Whose name is Cletus Kassidy, a murderous serial killer and Eddie Brock's prison cellmate later. The symbiote that became Carnage was spawned from that of Venom... Hohoho..

Carnage, more insanely powerful than Venom and Spiderman COMBINED.
To end things off, got a nice Youtube video of Spiderman vs Venom in a video game. (Think it's Marvel vs Capcom 1 from the background stage) This also explains the title of my post too! It's one of Spidey's special moves where he leaps onto a wall and hits the enemy for 5 times. "Maximum Spider" is something I personally utter when something serious happens. Haha. Enjoy! P.S Check out the last special move that Spidey does at the end of the video. Those who watched the movie should be able to identify it. *winks*

Updates for the past week~
Took leave on Monday but din go anywhere cause my right foot hurts again! I'm guessing it could have been the sneakers I wore on Friday to work. Just when I could walk normally.. Sianz..
Went for Peiling's bdae celeb on Wednesday at Sizzlers' @ Suntec. Supposed to meet there at 7 and almost everybody was late! One thing I cannot stand is ppl being late (for too long). The manager kept coming to our table to remind us that the kitchen would be closing at 8.50pm and the salad bar at 9.00pm. Think it's important to remind us cos the cost of the main entree comes with access to the salad bar... Anyway, everybody came in the end and finally celebrated Peiling's bdae. =) Happy bdae, Peiling!

Met Huiru for dinner on Thursday at Bugis and we had a great dinner together at Aji-Tei. I tried the Nagoya Special Miso Katsu (Cutlet) Set and it was not bad. We went for the specialty desserts later. She's planning to go to Taiwan with her friends soon, so I gave her a few tips about accomodation and getting around. Haha~ Suddenly reminded me of the good time I had in Taiwan for my grad trip. LOL

Helped Ashlyn to book a hostel room in Hokkaido cos the website was almost entirely in Japanese. Suddenly become the Japanese Transalator.. although my level is far from being good... Going to pass her my shopping list soon! Haha~
And last night (Friday), I was about to leave my office when the sole of my shoe came off! *stunned* So i went to Raffles City (rendezvous point) to get some shoes for replacement immediately and got myself a pair of adidas canvas tennis shoes, which kinda looks cool! Anyway, some of us gathered to celebrate Val's bdae at The Post Bar @ Fullerton and got to know some of Val's friends who are connected to me in some way! Singapore is too small! One is working in the same company as my sis and is currently undergoing training by her and the other fren's colleagues used to be my ex-coursemates in ECE back in NUS! Had fun and drinks last night and I taught the 请你跟我这样做 game from the 齐天大胜 variety show. And it seems that they had fun, especially Val! Happy birthday, Val! =)
I shouldn't be going out this weekend. Gonna rest my feet at home~
